Dr Jenny Zhang is a group leader and BBSRC David Phillips Fellow in the Department of Chemistry, where she is re-wiring photosynthesis to generate renewable fuels. Here, she tells us about why she switched from cancer research to sustainability, how her Fellowship programme is helping her develop leadership skills, and why eggs in her childhood home would regularly go missing.

Andy Kowalski!

Thank you for your reply and affirmation. I am very interested in the introduction of this female doctor Jenny Zhang, because it USES multiple disciplines to find problems. And what I found in the human eye was an antenna, a photoreceptor cell in the retina, which is the unit of the antenna array, which is a very large antenna array. At the same time, it has been proposed that there are radio channels in human visual senses, namely electromagnetic channels, which is a research topic proposed by the U.S. department of defense.I have written a book on this subject, called "multidisciplinary eyes", which was published on cnnic. I hope you will correct me。 http://z.bianke.cnki.net/collection/2035310 CNKI CNKI website Du Shimin

Dear Du Shimin my original interest was in what Dr Jenny Zhang"s areas of work and the fact  that she works in a STEM environment and this prompted  my curiosity as I work as Coach and Mentor and help people  with their career challenges. Your contribution was  very good and something to consider as an area  for future work. I am now retired from all lab wok but am keen to help advise others still working in any areas of science. Hope that clarifies situation. All the best wishes Andy

Dear Andy Kowalski  Thank you for your reply. You may feel that my discussion has deviated from your current work scope. In fact, it is relevant. In terms of biology, that is, in terms of chemistry, the energy of the human body is inside the cell, but the human body is a huge system, how does the energy of a single cell come together? The human brain consumes 30% of its energy. Why is that?Is it because of the number of cells, or because of other reasons, but the robot can not be compared, because it has no cells, no blood, and no electromagnetic channel, I always think the human body has an energy center, where is the energy center?I haven"t found it yet, because how many kinds of energy are there in the body? It"s rarely discussed because it"s a multidisciplinary issue. There must be new energy here. Sir, I may not have connected it. This is the key to the problem. Du Shimin

Hi Du Shimin, I am no biologist but know from school how cells work up to a point and also the fact that some energy is derived from the food we heat and in particular from sugars which are within those foods. Possible energy centre could either be in the stomach as that is where food enters the digestive tract and is converted in to nutrients. Possible other area could be the Pancreas and maybe the Liver plays a part! Something to think about! All the best for now Andy

Hi !Andy: Thank you for your reply. How many places are mentioned in your reply? It"s not unreasonable.I think people can"t live without food. Food is related to energy, but how can food be converted into energy in the stomach?I once read a report that seawater can generate electricity. It USES the different concentration of salt in seawater to generate electricity, but I don"t know how Sir Thinks about this problem. In my opinion, blood is the energy provider of the human body. Nerve fibers of the brain and blood coexist, but they are isolated from each other. If they infiltrate each other, diseases will occur. The photosensitive cell of the retina of the person, also have blood to coexist, that is to say blood gives photosensitive cell to work to provide energy, so the center of blood is a heart, but the heart is the energy center of the person? This problem needs to be studied! However, Chinese traditional culture believes that people have a heart, which is a soul, not a heart, but the soul is invisible and can not be found. The strange thing is that when a Tibetan monk dies, he emits colored light, which is called the phenomenon of siphoning. This colored light is electromagnetic energy. Where does this energy come from?Does it come from the soul?
